Wild Elk Herd
In 1981, the Game & Fish Commission, National Park Service and
concerned citizens teamed up to reintroduced Elk to the Buffalo River
Valley. Today the Elk Herd number over 500 and with improvements to the
Elk habitat in the Buffalo River area the number of Elk should continue to
increase.

In the back yard of Elk Meadow Cabin is the beautiful natural Buffalo
National River. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy canoing, fishing, swimming,
horseback riding, and hiking just minutes away.
